Among the mountainous forests near the border with Peru, in the middle of the Amazonas Raiforest, you can find a group of small-scale producers who are committed in delivering coffee of the highest quality. Among this group of coee growers, you can find the Abads. The Abad Family is a traditional coffee growing family in the region of Zamora, in both Chinchipe and Zumba. Most of their parents and grandparents used to have their farms in the region where they had several coffee lots, among other products. Altough some of the Abads have dedicated to cattle raising instead, in the end, all their roads lead to coffee. Most have them, have ended up working in coffee and producing specialty coee on their own. With the passing of years, the Abads have become, not only passionate about coffee, but very well-known in the region for their committment to the industry. Each member of the family have their own farm, but they produce and deliver coffee with a very similar profile. Around 6 years ago, the Abad Family heard about specialty coffee and that they could achieve higher prices by producing it, and as word of mouth, the news spread and, today many of the family members decided to give it a try. One of the members of the family, Klever, was one of the co-founders of the Association ACRIM, so most of them today, commercialize their coffee through this association.
