Lohas Beans was founded with a mission to revolutionize the coffee industry by prioritizing sustainability, quality, and ethical practices. The brand’s name, “Lohas,” stands for “Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability,” reflecting their deep commitment to promoting a healthier planet and a better life for coffee growers and consumers alike.

Lohas Beans started by forging direct relationships with coffee farmers in some of the
world’s most renowned coffee-growing regions. By cutting out middlemen and ensuring fair prices, they empowered these farmers and invested in sustainable farming practices. This approach not only guaranteed the highest quality beans but also supported the long-term health of the land and the communities that depend on it.

Today, Lohas Beans is recognized not just for its superior coffee but also for its leadership in ethical sourcing and environmental stewardship. The brand continues to innovate and inspire, bringing together coffee lovers who care about quality, sustainability, and making a positive difference in the world.

Interestingly, this coffee is called Carambolo, which is Spanish for ‘star fruit’.

Process

First, the coffee is received at the mill and disinfected of impurities that may be present from the farm. Secondly, the coffee is left to rest and oxidise for 24 hours, before it is depulped. It then undergoes a brief anaerobic fermentation before being administered a hot and cold wash (thermal shock). Finally, the coffee is mechanically dried and rested for at least 1 week.
