Colombia Felipe Arcila

Felipe Arcila is one of the founders of Cofinet, an exporting partner we’ve been working with, in Colombia. He is also a coffee producer and owns a farm with his brother, Carlos, called Jardines del Eden.

Felipe grew up in coffee. His father, Jairo, purchased his first coffee farm in 1987. Now with over 15 years of experience in the coffee industry, Felipe is dedicated and driven to make a positive impact on other coffee growers’ lives and projects, through shared knowledge and hand-in-hand success. 

 

ABOUT FARM

 

Jardines Del Eden – is a 19 – hectare farm located at an average altitude of 1800 m.a.s.l in Pijao quindio. Here is where Felipe Arcila, one of Cofinet’s cofounders produces the most exotic varieties, such as Sidra, Wish Wush, Papayo, Maragogype, Laurina, Gesha, Sl 28, Pink Bourbon among others. Here they use good agricultural practices that preserve the ecosystem. For example, they use organic fertilizers, and they have some native trees that help the land absorb the nutrients in a proper way.

This coffee was grown by Felipe Arcila at the farm Jardines Del Eden. This lot was first aerobically fermented for 24 hours. Then the whole cherries were placed inside Grainpro bags for 50 hours maintaining a temperature below 22oC and adding CO2. Finally, the whole cherries were placed on raised beds at a temperature below 35oC until ideal moisture content was achieved. A natural mutation of Bourbon that originally occurred on Réunion, first described in 1947. It is known to have a lower caffeine content than many other C. arabica varieties.

This coffee was grown by Felipe Arcila at the farm Jardines Del Eden. This coffee was carefully hand-picked in order to select only the ripest cherries. The cherries were then fermented for 40 hours in an anaerobic environment. Afterwards, the coffee was sundried until ideal moisture content was achieved. This micro-lot is 100% Typica Mejorado. This varietal was developed in an experimental center in Ecuador. This coffee is rust-resistant, has good yield potential, and has a very good cup profile.

This coffee was grown by Felipe Arcila at the farm Jardines Del Eden. This coffee was carefully hand-picked in order to select only the ripest cherries. The cherries were then fermented for 40 hours in an anaerobic environment. Afterwards, the coffee was sundried until ideal moisture content was achieved. Sidra is a hybrid between Bourbon and Typica varieties. Its sweet and bright profile is a characteristic of this unique variety, said to have originated in Ecuador.

This coffee was carefully hand-picked in order to use only the ripest cherries, exposed to an aerobic environment for 24 hr, and then placed in grainpro bags for 200 hours fermentation,

later sundried on raised beds until ideal moisture content was achieved. This microlot is 100% Castillo. This variety was developed by Federación Nacional de Cafeteros. It is more productive than Caturra and resistant to coffee leaf rust.
