On the south of Ecuador, in the Loja province, we find the canton of Puyango which limits with Peru. Several of the mountains of the area stem from the mountain range of Alamor, creating several peaks visible from the towns, hence the name Los Picos (the peaks). These mountains cover over half of the canton, where the coee farms are located at, with amazing agroclimatic conditions. Coee is one of the principal agro-industrial activities and source of income in Puyango and with coee producers committed to environmentally friendly practices. For example, the producers of Los Picos, have implemented beehives to help with the bee population and in turn helps with the pollination of the plants. The area has good soil
and climate conditions with a very nutrient rich soil which renders good quality coffee cherries. The coffee producers of this brand have a rich history in coffee, stemming for over 30 years learning from their fathers and grandfathers everything about the harvest, with farms averaging 1.5 hectares in size. With the guidance and advise of the PECA team they have been able to improve the quality of their coee since they started visiting them. It would be a joy for these producers to know that you’re buying and enjoying their coee.
