El Carmen is a shade coffee farm in the Chinchontepec region, on the slopes of the Chinchontepec volcano, the second highest volcano in El Salvador. The Farm is located in the province of San Vicente, where the family of Luis Christiani has produced and exported high quality coffee since 1955. Their vision goes beyond producing good quality coffee and into providing and excellent working environment for their employees and protecting the natural environment.

Their coffee trees grow at an altitude of 1,500 to 1700 metres above sea level. Besides the natural shade, the beans grow mainly in the shade of the indigenous Inga trees. The handpicked ripe berries are processed in their own mill giving El Carmen ́s coffee its distinguished and exquisite flavor. Their concern with keeping the entire production and milling process sustainable comes from their appreciation and sense of responsibility towards nature and their community. By maintaining permanent jobs, they provide economic stability to families and communities near the farm.
