Cultivation

Kore Biloya is one of Tracon’s prime washing station. This station produces natural and washed coffees that are very floral-like. Whilst most of the coffees come here mixed by an Isuzu truck, we estimate that 320 farmers crop is coming to this station on most days.

Each farmers picks about 100-200 kilograms of red cherries per day. This results in about 15-35 kilograms of final green beans after processing.

Harvest , Post-Harvest & Processing

Coffee trees around Kore Biloya grow mostly in under the shade of many different shade trees such as Cordia Africana and Bibira. Whilst coffee is drying Biloya’s employees turn the cherries by hand to ensure that coffees are evenly drying.

Lactic Process

At Tracon, we take pride in doing innovative processes each year to really explore different flavours we can show in our coffees but also to enable our coffees to express themselves on a deeper level.

This lactic process was produced with a concentration of 2% non-iodized salt. This concentration was added into the coffee barrel and fermented for around 120 hours. Then dried on African Sun Bed for 17-19 days until the moisture is down to 11%.

About Biloya
