GULIFA COFFEE PULPING AND COFFEE DEV’T PLC is named after a creek that passes through the company’s farm in Jimma (Western Ethiopia). Ahmed Ababula’s family have been in coffee business for multiple generations, during the reign of King Haileselase his father Mr. Ababula had a coffee proccesing facility and farm and was one of the founding members of Jimma City’s Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Ahmed started learning about coffee at young age in his father’s facility.

Ahmed Ababula started his own coffee company in 1999, With the skills, knowledge and experiences acquired through generation, the company planted coffee with the best available varieties on 114 hectares of farm and organized more than 200 out growers in Jimma zone.

Initially, the company was mainly engaged in supplying its precious beans to the local Market. After many years the third generation of the business, Mr. Abdulaziz Ahmed Ababula’s has expanded Gulifas market to global export and is still working to further expand on the companies mission to make sure every corner of the world has a taste of their high-quality coffee rich with history and culture.
