The washing station is located in the heart of the Kochere district, which can be found in the Godeo zone in South Ethiopia, some 340 km away from Addis Ababa. The coffee trees are grown under legume shade trees. All farmers in the area practice a traditional agroforestery system in which coffee and false banana tress grow simultaneously in a symbiotic way. The bordering farmers deliver the harvested red cherries to the nearby washing station, where only the ripe cherries are selected and fermented according to the highest standards set in Ethiopia.
