Our Singah Mata, meaning “Lion’s eye” and named after the Singah Mata Mountain near by comes from the Sipangan Bolon farmer cooperative which was founded in 2008 and is located in the north of Sumatra, surrounding Lake Toba. Sipangan Bolon unites small holder farmers who grow their coffee in the rich and fertile volcanic loam soils, which are comprised of a mixture of sand, silt and clay. This soil type, combined with the climate and the unique processing used in Sumatra, allow perfect growing conditions and lead to the rich, full bodied and smoky coffees associated with the region.
