Its is a farmer owned factory which is managed by a factory Manager. The society is headed
by a board and each board member represents the factories affiliated to the Society,
Gatuya coffee factory alongside Murarandia Coffee factory is affiliated to New Murarandia
FCS which was started in the year 1962. The society has about 1000 small scale farmers.
Timely and selective hand picking of cherries is carried out by the small scale growers. The Cherry is delivered to the wet station the same day its picked.
At the factory, the growers sort the cherry and weigh before they go in to production.
Washing process utilizes water from River Muriuriu.
Fermentation takes place between 12-18 hours the the coffees are then passed through a washing channel and then taken to drying beds.
Sun drying on raised beds takes approximately 2-3 weeks depending on the weather.
