Shining from the high altitudes of the Rumpite village in northern Peru, this blend is definitely one of the divine stars of the region.
From the high altitudes of the Rumpite village in northern Peru emerges ‘Estrella Divina,’ translating to divine star in Spanish; a blend crafted by Origin Coffee Lab.
Origin Coffee Lab initiated the Estrella Divina project in 2017, engaging approximately 72 producers in the pursuit of top-quality coffee in the region. Recently, they introduced the Solidario program, offering producers training, market access, financial support, and quality feedback. In this initiative, producers learn to implement a more controlled fermentation process and monitor drying time based on sunlight hours. Future priorities for the Estrella Divina project include introducing new varieties like Bourbon and Yellow Caturra while continually enhancing fermentation, drying, and storage processes.
Harvest & Post-Harvest
Cherries used for Estrella Divina have been cultivated at optimal elevation and under ideal climate conditions. The producers are dedicated to good farm management and processing practices, highlighting the region’s potential for specialty coffees. The microclimate in the area is unique, as warm air currents from the plains of Rumipite meet cool, fresh air descending from the La Coipa mountains.
