Armin is a second generation coffee farmer who learned about coffee from his parents starting when he was a kid. He inherited his first parcel of land from them in about 2008 and worked hard to overcome the challenges that faced him as a coffee producer. He worked as a migrant laborer for a time in order to buy more land for an additional small coffee farm. Because the family depends on coffee for its income, they work hard to produce coffee of outstanding quality. Armin calls this parcel of land “”Los Coles”” because of the variety of tree that grows here – a species that grows to an impressive size. The coffee is carefully processed after picking, and it dry ferments between 24-32 hours in a tank. Armin’s wet mill has a pit for the proper treatment of wastewater, which is important in order to minimize contamination of local water and soil resources.
